Curriculum Vitae

Brian D. Smith, Associate Dean of Academics & Assistant Professor of Theology, received his BA from Florida Christian College (2003), and his MA in Contemporary Christian Theology & Philosophy from Lincoln Christian Seminary (2005). He is currently working on a Ph.D. in Theology at the University of Exeter (England).

Brian grew up at Southside Christian Church in Ft. Pierce, FL, which was the church that set him apart for ministry.  He has served as a youth, associate, and preaching minister in a mixture of part-time and full-time roles.  He continues to serve the churches through supply preaching and presenting seminars relating to his academic interests. He currently serves regularly in ministry at Canoe Creek Christian Church in St. Cloud, FL as a Deacon, and in adult education and worship.

Brian began service as Registrar at FCC in 2003, began teaching in 2005, and was promoted to the position of Associate Dean of Academics in 2007.  In that position he fulfills the roles of associate chief academic officer and chief admissions officer.  He teaches traditional, adult degree completion, and online courses in the areas of theology, philosophy, Bible, world religions and cults.   

He and his wife Samantha, both alumni of FCC, have been married for over 8 years and have two children: Jason and Aliyah.  His brother, Shawn Smith, is an alumnus of FCC, as well as Lincoln Christian Seminary where he currently serves as Registrar (of both Lincoln Christian College & Seminary).

February 2008 2nd Annual Aereopagus Lectures –“Mythology & The Christian Faith:  Conflicts and Connections” sponsored by the Humanities Division of Florida Christian College, Mythology and Neo-Paganism:  Rebirth of the Goddess—Ancient and modern mythological and religious origins of the Goddess in modern neo-paganism.  It traces ancient Gnostic influences through to New age concepts of the Goddess and the danger to Christian faith.
