Responsibilities:

•  Advance the Elementary Education program by forming positive and collaborative relationships with school and school district agencies and officials, supporting recruitment activities for the program, and continually enhancing curricular and assessment activities of the program.

•  Lead the obtaining of State Approval from the Florida Department of Education for the Elementary and Music Education programs.

Qualifications:

•  Familiarity with a broad range of continuous assessment techniques; competence in the use of instructional technology in the teaching-learning process; knowledge of current best practices in teaching and supervision; and the ability to work well with students and colleagues.

•  Florida K-6 Professional Teaching Certification required or the ability to obtain one through reciprocity from another state's certificate.

As a Christ-centered, Bible-based, independent church with a congregation of between 75-95 members, The First Christian Church of Inverness (FCCI) has a beautiful campus and an excellent potential for growth.  Located on the Nature Coast in Citrus County (population 148,000) less than a 90 minute drive from Tampa, Orlando, and numerous entertainment venues, the City of Inverness has a population of over 7,200 and is approximately 7 square miles.  Inverness and Citrus County takes pride in its parks, bicycle and walking trails, water activities, family planned programs and quality education, at all levels.

General Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train and motivate lay people to apply their God given Spiritual gifts
  • Create an atmosphere of church growth, develop and implement strategies for leading people to a personal faith in Jesus Christ

Specific Responsibilities

The Senior Minister shall:

  • Be responsible for the pulpit preaching and teaching ministry of the Church
  • Be in charge of the worship services of the Church and seek assistance of others as the Lord leads
  • Conceptualize and develop plans about the future of the congregation including growth
  • Be actively involved in the development and implementation of all evangelistic, outreach and youth programs of the Church
  • Serve as the office manager, including personnel issues, training and evaluation of office staff
  • Serve as the Editor of the newspaper/newsletter and publish a monthly article
  • Devote adequate time to calling, visiting and counseling church members, as warranted
  • Be directly responsible to the Lord and fulfill His spiritual calling

Necessary Attitudes, Skills and Qualifications

The Senior Minister must possess:

  • Scriptural qualifications of the position as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9
  • A proven record as a pastoral leader with at least five years of experience
  • Graduate of an accredited Christian Bible College
  • The ability to energize and lead people toward a God-given vision
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to relate will with diverse personalities, ages, etc. 
  • Tactful, mature and flexible demeanor
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills
  • Christian character, Christ-like attitude and desire to "Do the Right Thing"
  • Love of the Lord

Candidates should be between 30-60 years old. First Christian Church had an Easter attendance of 206 following Max Lucado's 3:16 campaign.  The Church has an average attendance around 115 with about 170 active participants.  Age Distribution:  18% nursery through elementary, 10% Junior-Senior High School, 3% college, 24% young adults, 10% middle aged, and 35% seniors.

Worship:

First Christian Church has a Worship Leader and Praise Team and three piano players who rotate each Sunday.  The Church has a new sound system and computer/video system which displays Easy Worship presentations and iWorship videos in a 60 inch plasma TV in the Sanctuary and 50 inch plasma in an overflow.  The Worship Service is blended to reach a growing number of young couples with children.

Bible Study:

First Christian Church has an adult Sunday School every Sunday morning and a new Faith Cafe which has greatly increased Sunday School attendance for both adults and children.  The Church is beginning a Family Bible Study for all ages, nursery to adult, every Wednesday night.  The Rock, a new Youth Group will be a part of this Wednesday night Family Bible Study.

Children/Youth:

Children participate in a Youth Worship Service every Sunday held downstairs followed by Bible lessons for preschool (ages 2-4), early elementary (gr. K-3), middle (gr. 4-6), and youth (gr. 7-12).  (The same aged classes are held on Wednesday night Family Bible Study.)  Every 4th Sunday morning will be Family Worship in the Sanctuary for all ages.  Nursery and preschool will continue to be provided every Sunday. 

Each summer the Church holds a Vacation Bible School Sunday night through Friday with a picnic in the the College Park on Friday following the closing program.  This summer over 100 people attended our closing program.  Our Youth also attend Camp Christian in Mill Run, PA.

Seeking:  Children's Minister
